Use the Alpha prayer bookmarks to encourage people to pray for friends. Plan a prayer meeting on or around April 2nd as part of the Alpha Prayer Invitation. Resources and guidelines are available on the Alpha website to help organise a prayer meeting and make it an inspiring event. The “Dynamic Prayer in the Local Church” DVD and training material will help you find out more about models for dynamic prayer.
An Event to remember...
- Choose a central venue that will capture people's imagination
- Pray for other Christian initiatives happening in the area and invite a representative to briefly speak about the initiative
- Form a worship band if you don't already have one - or invite a well-known worship leader to work with the band
- Involve as many churches in the area as possible - a joint meeting sends a powerful message of unity to the public and press
- Liaise with your Alpha Adviser about building relationships with other Alpha churches
- Include testimonies and good news from 2008 as part of the meeting and give thanks - it encourages people to see that prayers have been answered and spurs people on to pray in 2009
