Sandro and Nalini run an Alpha at a local café where they share a good meal, a good coffee and plenty of good laughs – and that’s even before they start a discussion about the adventure of life in Christ.

“A good atmosphere breaks down walls, breaks barriers,” Nalini says. “Being able to come into a warm, welcoming, friendly environment with people who are rooting for you and want to see the best for you [makes a difference].”

Sandro says, “Helping people feel relaxed and open to a genuine discussion takes teamwork. We’ve got the whole café, we have a whole team that turns up at 6 pm and we rearrange the whole place… people come in and they’re like, ‘Wow, this is amazing!’”

“A highlight for me with running Alpha,” says Nalini, “has been to see the journey of those who attend. They come week one [with their] guard up. Week two, they see a familiar face – there’s that connection and there’s already a little bit of laughter and a little bit of banter before it starts. Week three, they’re the noisiest ones at the table!”
