"Asking my never-ending list of questions"

Ever since my mid-20s I have wanted to read the Bible and understand it. I did try a few times but ended up with a list of questions. Who was going to answer them? I didn't know any Christians, I didn't want to go to church in case I was preached at like years gone by, I didn't want to telephone a church in case I got "nabbed."

So my dream to read the Bible remained a dream. One day in October 1998 I hesitantly explained my dream in a conversation with hairdresser. I was excited to discover that she was a Christian and understood my dilemma.

I not only came out with a new hair-do but also a phone number to contact and the possibility of a new sense of purpose for the future.

Making the phone call to East Taieri Church led to an invitation to an Alpha introductory dinner. I was a little hesitant but the evening was wonderful. It was relaxed and welcoming, the food superb and the video presentation fascinating.

As they say, the rest is history. After the first night of the Alpha course I was well and truly hooked. The video presentations were very well done and explained about Jesus in today's language.

Alpha was such a relaxed and safe environment which helped me to start asking my never-ending list of questions. Alpha made me more aware of the Christian lifestyle which is exciting and rewarding.

Until then becoming a Christian had not even entered my mind, but by now it was so tempting. Alpha definitely encouraged me to take that step, so for me becoming a Christian happened quickly.

Alpha made my entry into the Christian faith a really positive experience. There have been lots of tears and lots of healing for past hurts, but oh what a wonderful feeling to feel free and at peace.

I feel so privileged to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, a relationship that is exciting and is growing. Alpha is my miracle.

Alpha created new beginnings, new friends of all ages and exciting discoveries and adventures.
