Publicity campaigns raise awareness which makes it easier to invite someone to Alpha and for them to accept an invitation. Large Alpha Signs put up near churches let people in the community know your church is running Alpha. Posters, Course Invitations and dinner invitations are a personal and effective way of encouraging friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to Alpha. How many posters and signs can you put up?
One leaflet in a letterbox won't necessarily get someone on an Alpha course (although this has happened), but a leaflet combined with posters, newspaper advertisements and a personal invitation is a very effective way of inviting friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to Alpha. Most people will need to see the Alpha course mentioned three times before they respond.
A major New Zealand advertising company has told us that churches have some of the best (and most under-utilised) advertising spaces in most towns. Let's make the most of this strategic opportunity.
All of this together gives Alpha a heightened public profile and has the potential to make the 2010 Alpha Invitation the best yet!
